These brass W & T Avery scales date back to the 19th century.

They are made of solid brass with two pans suspended from the ends of a beam. One pan is used for the goods to be weighted, the other for the weights. The loads can be seen to be balanced by an exactly horizontal position of the beam.

These scales are in perfect working order and are complete with graduating weights.
